Why use a Flushing Adaptor Spool?
Having a Gall Thomson Flushing Adaptor Spool available at or near the transfer site will greatly increase the operational options and procedures available in the event of an Activation.
This increased flexibility will enable faster and more effective response times and improve operational efficiency.
The break face of the MBC is not a STD ASME flange bolt pattern. Fitting the Flushing Adaptor Spool will therefore:
- Convert the break face to a STD ASME flange.
- Either push open the Petals or enable the Petals to be pumped open (depending on the control option on the MBC).

Once the Flushing Adaptor Spool is fitted, there are four options available depending on the circumstances and/or operational requirements.
Option 1 – Connect a blanking flange to the Flushing Adaptor Spool to seal the hoses.
Option 2 – Connect the Flushing Adaptor Spool and drain the hoses into the Vessel’s Slop Tank.
Option 3 – Connect the Flushing Adaptor Spool to the Vessel Manifold to finish the loading/offloading transfer operation.
Option 4 – Connect the Flushing Adaptor Spools together to finish the loading/offloading transfer operation.
